Nobody Ever Tells Me Anything

Doc was a teacher from 1967 to 2010. (Sigh)

Why do we have so much stuff? Well, one reason is that we have lived in one house since 1974, so we have never cleaned it out. Another is that along the way we have added to the basement the remnants of my dad's house, pieces of my in-laws' house and parts of Virginia's possessions that devolved to me. The biggest reason is that I retired five years ago and brought over all my classroom possessions covering 48 years of teaching. This is what I had "at hand" all my career, essential working parts of my life as a teacher. Okay, I know now, five years later, that I will never have another classroom. The problem is that the boxes in the garage validate that I COULD do it again (though I know I won't). When I get rid of my work extensions of myself, I will have essentially ended my life, as I have defined it. That is hard to do. All I can hope to do is chip away.
