Nobody Ever Tells Me Anything

Doc was a teacher from 1967 to 2010. (Sigh)

1398 - The shadow of death
I have dealing with my portion of the grief around here over the sudden death of R.B., a Salt Mine graduate from the class of 2011. He was one of the last of my students over my entire career, as he was in the very last class I taught the Spring of my retirement. He was a beautiful boy with a great smile. Tall, well over six feet, an offensive lineman on the football team. He was endlessly cheerful and willing. He was especially sensitive towards the kids who needed friends and/or help. Just a great fellow. And as blond and blue-eyed as a person could be. I don't know for sure what the cause of death was, but there is talk of drugs having a role to do with it. There has been lots of tears around here over the week, and I just couldn't get myself to ponder it on my blog. The funeral is going to be on Tuesday.
