Interesting words - Michael Dorris
"Without testing the water I run off the end of the dock and suddenly am surrounded by icy pinpricks, contracting my skin and blasting the tiredness. All sound is blotted out. Even the bubbles from my mouth make no noise as they rise from my lips. It's like entering a room in an empty building, like going into space. My feet sink into plants and soft mud that squeezes out between my toes as I push off. I never knew before that there are smells underwater, but there are -- greens and browns. I feel totally clean."
