Interesting words - Peter Hall
"I don't normally like ruins. But there is enough left of the Acropolis to feel what it was like. And one can study all the marvelous detail, the extraordinary, weathered marble. Perhaps it is age and time which make it so wonderful. Would I have liked it all new when it was shining in bright colours? Perhaps not. But now, worn into the landscape and trodden by centuries of feet, there is something inescapably moving about it. I thought of Byron coming here. And of Virginia Woolf. And of a host of others."
