Nobody Ever Tells Me Anything

Doc was a teacher from 1967 to 2010. (Sigh)

1553 - Tear it down
I have been taking part in a facebook site for people from Eau Claire. That allowed me to see pictures of the tearing down of the entire block where the Farmer's Store was. Now you can see a shot of that corner of Grand and Barstow, so you can see the 202 Club to the right, then nothing except emptiness until in the distance, across the river, you can see the new Royal Credit Union. It is an emptiness that is just shocking, so much gone, so many stores missing, buildings decades old gone with the wind. Eau Claire really does not want to retain its past in its visible forms, and that is a sad personality trait for a city. On the other hand, here in Green Lake, houses are disappearing over night to be replaced by much bigger and very expensive estates for the wealthy who want to play at the lake.
