"The bonds that unite another person to ourselves exist only in our mind. Memory as it grows fainter relaxes them, and notwithstanding the illusion by which we cheat other people, we exist alone. Man is the creature that cannot emerge from himself, that knows his fellows only in himself."
What a cutey, no lie. He can walk anywhere he wants to walk. He walked up to the computer, plopped down next to the hard drive and deftly put his finger on the single on/off button among all the bells and whistles. In a trice he pushed the button and turned off the computer. He has both words and sign language and can sign the motions for a long list of words. He is the most delightful utterer of words I have ever heard. I wish I could transcribe his sweet little voice. I gave him my keys to play with, and he absolutely loved them. When I took them back, he looked at me and said, "More keys." Two word cluster, just like that. He is fascinated by anything that can be spun and spins everything he gets his little hands on. And he is the happiest, sweetest kid I have ever seen.
I wonder if months in the NICU being stuck with needles every day made him determined to be happy when he got away from there. When I think he started out at one pound, twelve ounces, and ended up this little bundle of muscle and energy, I am amazed.
