"It is sadder to find the past again, and find it inadequate to the present than it is to have it elude you and remain forever a harmonious conception of memory."
F. Scott Fitzgerald
I am hoping to settle in and attack the piles of final exams. I have twenty different class sets of tests to grade. I also have to compute the second term grades and follow that up with computation of finals overall and semester grades. It is a long and tiring process.
I do have Monday off, as it is MLK holiday time. Curious how our schedule nicely puts an official holiday right in the weekend we are overwhelmed with exams to grade. And therefore we don't have even one day off work set aside to grade. Isn't there a kind of law saying that you can't mandate work of this type on an official holiday? LOL
Last night's basketball game against I*****m was especially enjoyable. The teams were evenly matched, and there were no spreads greater than, I think, eleven, and that was only momentary. My student D***n N*****u decided we would not lose the game and put up nine points in the second half. The game was tied with ten seconds to go, then D***n put up a swish for three points (his third trey of the game)at six seconds. I****m couldn't do it (no time outs remaining) and we won 52-49 in a real barn burner. It has been a while since our gym has enjoyed a game with those particular dynamics.
