These storms

Last night came another one. I was sitting at the dining room table watching Silverado on dvd and eating fresh blueberries like candy. This storm rolled in and did its thing. The one two nights ago missed us, but not this one. The lightning strikes seemed about twenty feet away. I thought about danger and realized that were I lying in bed under the covers I would feel safer. Except that no place in the cabin is safer than any other place; it is just that under covers SEEMS safer. Do you agree with that? Anyway, I just sat there like a deer in the headlights and ate berries and watched male bonding going on in Silverado. Darn. I would like to ride my horse four abreast with Danny Glover, Kevin Kline, Kevin Costner, and Scott Glenn. (Oops, that means five abreast, doesn't it?) And we five go clean out the corrupt town of villains like Brian Denehy. Sigh.

This is a scythe

I took more pictures. One of the things I tell my students is that in the summer I take up the Mr. Death job and scythe the grass with a real scythe, a dangerous implement over a century old. They laugh at me. Here are a couple of pictures of my own personal scythe.
