"Millions of persons long for immortality who do not know what to do with themselves on a rainy afternoon."
I was in the car for fourteen hours today, and there was nothing I could do about it. I got up early (seven o'clock) and hit the road in a timely manner. Unfortunately, I hit a block in Minnesota, where the freeway was utterly plugged from Rogers to the 494 connection. There had been a horrible accident just beyond Rogers, two semi-trucks and several cars. From the emergency vehicles, the whole thing looked awful, and there is nothing anyone in any car could do except be gracious about it. It put me about three hours behind, and I never caught up. Luckily, I had held a room here in Dickinson, so I didn't have to worry about when I got here. And, on the positive, I got to drive towards the most beautiful long, lingering sunset in the North Dakota sky.
This was a tiring day, though, and I may try to sleep in a bit tomorrow. Variable weather, but not bad driving.
