"The fault I find with our journalism is that it forces us to take an interest in some fresh triviality or other every day, whereas only three or four books in a lifetime give us anything that is of real importance."
I got caught up in the Husky-Cal game this afternoon. It is funny how sports can carry you along, even when you know there is no compelling reason to be attached to a game. I know that lots of fans want the UW to win today and next week, in order to go to a bowl game. I am glad they won, but I do not think that a 6-6 team should be eligible for a bowl game. Bowl games should be the goal of teams with good records, and 6-6 is a mediocre record by any standards. And I am not denying that the Dogs gave us some good games this season. I see that my UW (Wisconsin) clobbered Northwestern 70-28 and won the Big Ten. Nice.
