"The contemptible smallness, the mediocrity of my work, the disorder of my days, these are the things that make it, to say the least, difficult for me to get up in the morning."
Apparently meteorologists keep track of what are called "events," that is, notable weather experiences that occur over a span of time, like winter. Today they announced that Seattle is having the most boring winter in recorded history. Essentially nothing has happened here. Yes, the weather elsewhere has been absolutely riotous, with record storms, snowfall, rainfall, tornadoes, etc. Not in Seattle. It has been grey and damp all fall and winter. Day after day of depressing lack of action under blah skies. We didn't have to be told. We noticed the lack of excitement. It even feels a bit guilty not appreciating the blandness of this season, when elsewhere billions are being lost in one disaster after another.
